![]() ![]() Personally i have a 427 block i've owned for 25 years before discovering it was cracked in the main webs. Paying top buck for something old and used and not easily inspectable prior to purchase comes with a lot of risks. I've bought enough "428" cars for more than a good engine is worth only to discover it's a 390 put in there 30 years ago when the 428 died. My feeling is $1000 is a deal and $1500 is too much?īTW, I really like the earlier birds, but the 68 is not my favorite looking Ford of all times. What is the value of a 1968 Tbird with a 428 engine if all you plan to do is remove the engine/tranny and unload/scrap the engineless corpse? Assume the bird can be driven home but is in typical old worn out shape.
